Dos Anjos wears a towel, but makes weight and confirms title fight

The fight for the lightweight belt, which will headline UFC Fight Night 90, this Thursday (7), has been confirmed. In an early weigh-in held in the early afternoon in Las Vegas (USA), Rafael dos Anjos, category champion, and Eddie Alvarez, title challenger, made weight and were released for this Friday's event.

The weigh-ins for all events this week in Las Vegas, which includes the TUF 23 Finale and UFC 200, will feature the new format adopted by Ultimate. Athletes can weigh in within a three-hour window on the eve of the fights, and the official ceremony will only feature confirmation of the marks obtained, plus the fighters' faces.

Therefore, Alvarez officially registered his weight at the end of the morning local time, reaching 70,3 kg. This is the weight limit allowed in fights for the lightweight belt, as fights of this type do not have the pound (0,45 kg) of tolerance that fights not valid for titles accept.

Dos Anjos weighed himself hours later. The Brazilian stepped onto the scale naked, covered with a towel, to also register 70,3 kg and confirm his second title defense in the division.

All 24 UFC Fight Night 90 participants fell within the limits of their categories. The attraction will have eight Brazilians: in addition to Dos Anjos, Alberto Miná, Dileno Lopes, Peter Munhoz, Felipe Sertanejo, Gilbert Durinho, Reginaldo Vieira e Vincent Luque. The official ceremony with the athletes facing each other will begin at 20pm (Brasília time), broadcast live on SUPER FIGHTS.
