After a whirlwind of emotions experienced in the octagon last semester, which ranged from winning the title to an unexpected defeat, Conor McGregor he guarantees that he is hungry again to return to the UFC and perform in his best shape.

And, in this case, “hungry” is not a mere force of expression. The Irishman believes that excess food was one of the factors that culminated in his setback for Nate diaz, in March, at UFC 196. At the time, McGregor fought two categories above what he is used to, and that is precisely why he ended up overdoing it.

In an interview with the North American magazine “ESPN”, in the traditional Body Issue, McGregor posed naked and detailed his difficulties in combat. “I went into that fight full in every way. My plate was full, my stomach was full. That's not why we fight. Originally, we fought for food, to eat. We fight hungry. So I'm happy with the lessons learned. I feel like my belly is empty again, so I'm hungry again”, declared the fighter.

Even though he already has a rematch scheduled against Diaz, in August, at UFC 202, McGregor once again spoke about the possibility of facing Floyd Mayweather in a boxing duel. If this gets off the ground, the Irishman would feel relieved. “If I could just focus on boxing, I would be neck and neck with Floyd. But I'm juggling: I need to balance boxing, tae kwon do, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, karate. If I could put all of that aside and just focus on boxing, it would take a huge weight off my shoulders,” he explained.

McGregor and Diaz will rematch on August 20th, again in the welterweight category (up to 77 kg). Despite the recent defeat, the fighter remains featherweight champion (66 kg), as he defeated José Aldo in December last year.
