The next challenger for the UFC lightweight belt, Eddie Alvarez recognizes that the current weight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, has done remarkable work in the octagon in his recent fights. However, the American highlighted that, despite the Brazilian's good record, the champion has never faced an opponent like him.

UFC champion since last year, Dos Anjos has won five in a row, including triumphs over Anthony Pettis, Donald Cerrone e Ben henderson. “I take my hat off to him. He actually did really well against the guys he fought, but none of them were me. None of them have my style, they fight like me. None of them fight with the spirit that I fight with. I’m not going to give him credit until we fight inside the cage”, he analyzed, in a conference call reproduced on the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

Alvarez believes he can surprise the Brazilian during his aggressive moments. “Like Dos Anjos, I have a high rate of knockouts and submissions. I feel like he's confident with his striking, but I think I can catch him if he gets too aggressive. This could end badly, and quickly. It will be an explosive and violent fight from the start,” he promised.

Dos Anjos has already defended the UFC belt against Cerrone, who was precisely Alvarez's only tormentor in the octagon. After losing to “Caubói”, the challenger had victories against Gilbert Melendez and Pettis, which qualified him to fight for the title.
