The Brazilian Raphael Assunção He already has a confirmed date and opponent for his UFC debut. The Tupiniquim athlete, who comes from a victory over L. C. Davis at WEC-52, he will make his Ultimate debut against the Armenian Manny gamburyan. The fight will be on the preliminary card of UFC-128, an event that takes place on March 19, in Newark, in the United States.
Raphael has an MMA record of 16 wins and just three losses, before the WEC and UFC merger, Assunção had five fights in the now defunct event and had three wins. Gamburyan returns to Ultimate after moving down to the featherweight category (which did not exist in the UFC) and appearing in the WEC. The Armenian has a record of 11 wins, five losses and in his last appearance he was knocked out by the Brazilian José Aldo at WEC-51, in a fight valid for the organization's featherweight belt.
Raphael will be the sixth Brazilian in the event, which will have as its main attraction the defense of the UFC light heavyweight belt. Mauricio Shogun against the North American Rashad evans. Check out the full event card:
