Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking for an unusual reinforcement for his next fight. The undefeated Russian lightweight revealed that he has extended an invitation to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to be in his corner during his next Octagon appearance, which has yet to be set.
At a press conference held in Dagestan, his homeland, Nurmagomedov revealed that he exchanged messages with the Portuguese star on Instagram. “He wrote to me telling me to ask for the fight with Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 201. I told him I wouldn't fight until the fall [of the United States], maybe at UFC 205, in November. He said, 'I'll try not to miss your fight,' and I said, 'Could you stay in my corner?' He said if he's not busy, he'll come to my fight,” he revealed.
As he is Muslim, Nurmagomedov does not usually fight in the middle of the year, as it is the Ramadan period. Thus, he hopes to return to the attraction in New York, on November 12th, preferably against the winner of Rafael dos Anjos x Eddie Alvarez, who will fight for the title in July.
