Former UFC heavyweight champion, Lesnar has not fought since the end of 2011, when he lost to alistair overeem At that point in his career, the North American giant had already been hampered by diverticulitis, an intestinal disease that he suffered from when he was still champion.

Precisely because he suffered for so long with the disease, Lesnar said he flirted with the idea of returning for a long time. “I couldn’t live with the decision to stop. It was a difficult decision to make, and that decision haunted me for 15 months – and I discovered that I couldn't live with it for the rest of my life. I was at UFC 100, so why not be at UFC 200?”, he explained, in an interview with the “SportsCenter” website, on the North American channel “ESPN”.

Lesnar continued: “I was at the top of my career, but I wasn't in my prime. In my head, I think I've never lost to an opponent: I lost to diverticulitis. That was the opponent who beat me. Today, I feel 100%, and I wouldn't go back if I wasn't. I know it's been a long time [since I've fought], but I feel great. I do not need to lie. This is the best training period of my life, so I’m excited,” he signed off.
