In February, the Brazilian Thiago Moses won the lightweight belt at the RFA (Resurrection Fighting Alliance) event with an armbar that should certainly compete for the 2016 “Submission of the Year” award. Now, the Brazilian puts his belt on the line for the first time this Friday ( 3) and with a VIP spectator in the audience: UFC president Dana White, who will be at the event recording the reality show “Looking For a Fight” – in which he travels with friends and looks for fighters for Ultimate in smaller events.
“Of course this 'VIP presence' is more exciting, but first I have to do my job as RFA champion in the best way possible. There's no point in him (White) being there and me losing. It has to be one step at a time. One mistake and you end any expectations. I trust that my work will naturally bring good consequences. But you can’t deny that it’s the golden chance to impress the guy,” said Moisés.
The Brazilian also had to deal with last minute problems, as his original opponent, former UFC Ernest Chaves, was injured on the eve of the event and was hastily replaced by Jamall Emmers. “A champion’s mind has to be shielded from these things. Opponent changes are common across all events. During the camp I do my best to adapt to any condition, whether physical, technical or psychological. Emmers deviates a little from the characteristics of what we were training to deal with. He's a more classic wrestler, he uses the suffocation game well. We only changed a few details. I did the training camp again at 011 MMA, in São Paulo, and American Top Team, in Florida. They are two of the most technical teams in the world. I am well garrisoned and have plenty of resources to use wherever the fighting takes place,” he concluded.
RFA 38 takes place this Friday (3), at “The Hangar”, in Costa Mesa, California (USA). The duel between Thiago Moses and Jammal Emmers will be the main fight of the night.
