The UFC organization announced that Bob Meyrowitz, a member of the event's co-founding team and one of the brand's first owners, will be included in the Hall of Fame, in the “Contributors” category.
Meyrowitz presided over the Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG), which was responsible for the first editions of Ultimate. Bob and SEG sold the UFC brand to Zuffa (owned by Lorenzo Fertitta, Frank Ferttita and Dana White) in 2001, but not before establishing the set of unified rules and even the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) nomenclature.
Meyrowitz enters the Hall of Fame of the UFC before his colleagues Rorion Gracie and Art Davies, also responsible for creating the event and promoting the first editions. The trio, alongside producer Campbell McLaren, represented the backbone of the emergence of Ultimate.
the ceremony of Hall of Fame will be held on July 10th, in Las Vegas (USA), one day after the historic UFC 200. The event will also feature the already announced nomination of the Brazilian Rodrigo Minotauro to the select group of historic names from the biggest MMA event on the planet.
