According to a survey carried out by the “Combate” channel website, Brazilian representatives have 23 wins and 28 losses in duels against foreign athletes, resulting in a 45% success rate.
It all started in January, at UFC 195, when the only Brazilian on the show, Diego Brandao, lost to Brian ortega. The trend was repeated in February, with the setback of Rafael Feijão for Ovince St Preux at UFC Fight Night 82.
Then, the Brazilians zeroed in on four more attractions: UFC FN 83 (five losses in five fights), UFC FN 82 (two losses), UFC FN 87 (three losses) and UFC FN 88 (four). The event that “saved the crop” was UFC 198, precisely the only one held in Brazil, when the country's athletes won eight out of ten fights against foreigners.
UFC Fight Night 88 featured two Brazilians in the two most important fights of the night. Renan Barao fell to Jeremy Stephens in the judges' decision, and Thomas almeida was knocked out by cody garbrandt. Before, Vitor miranda had lost to Chris Camozzi, and Alberto Uda suffered his first setback against Jake collier.
