The North American, who won the first meeting by submission, revealed to the “MMA Fighting” website that he asked the UFC for a raise so that the fight could be rescheduled. Dana White, president of Ultimate, and Lorenzo Fertitta, partner of the organization, went to the city of Stockton, California (USA), where Diaz lives, to negotiate.

“We went to lunch and talked. I basically told them what the real deal was: it was the biggest fight they'd ever had. Me against Conor was the biggest fight, or the second biggest, even though it was only confirmed ten days in advance. 'I just beat your main star, so if you don't mind, I would like to be better rewarded than I was last time,” the fighter detailed.

During the interview, Diaz confirmed that there are talks for the duel to be rescheduled for UFC 202, on August 20th. Even so, McGregor has recently had his name involved in a series of rumors that point to a boxing superfight against Floyd Mayweather.

Diaz doesn't take the rumors very seriously. “This story is a publicity stunt to hide the fact that he [McGregor] was beaten,” he teased.

McGregor and Diaz faced each other on March 5th, in the main fight of UFC 196. After a positive first round, in which he had an advantage in striking, the Irishman saw his rival grow and come back in the second round: Diaz rocked McGregor in foot, the fight went to the ground and the North American finished with a rear naked choke.
