Former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank mir, could be back in action in the coming months. After knocking out the Croatian Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 119, the black belt will probably fight next March in an edition yet to be made official by the North American organization.
Although Mir still doesn't know the exact date of his return to the Octagon, sources close to the athlete claim that his first opponent in 2011 will be his compatriot Brendan Schaub, who, in turn, has previously shown his interest in facing the former champion.
Moments after the victory over the Brazilian Gabriel “Napão” at UFC 121, Schaub highlighted that Mir is the ideal opponent so that, in case of victory, he would get closer to an opportunity to challenge for the heavyweight belt.
“I'm a big fan of Frank mir. I'm trying to improve more and more and the only way to know if I'm progressing is to face a quality fighter like him”, said Schaub at the time.
The confrontation between Mir and Schaub could take place both at UFC on Versus 3, which is scheduled for March 3rd of next year, and also at UFC 129, which should be held on the 19th of the same month.
