Bisping replaces Weidman and challenges Rockhold for the belt at UFC 199

Jacaré would be the organization's first option, but a knee problem prevented the Brazilian from playing

Almost a decade after winning the reality show title The Ultimate Fighter and make his Octagon debut, the British Michael Bisping will finally have his first shot at the belt in the biggest MMA organization on the planet. Bisping will replace the injured man Chris Weidman and will face Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, on July 4th.

The announcement was made by the president of Ultimate Dana White, during the “Sportscenter” program, on the North American channel “ESPN”. According to the “MMA Fighting” website, however, Bisping was not the first option for the fight. The organization will have tried to sign the Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare, but he would not be physically able to perform due to a knee injury suffered in the fight against Vitor belfort at UFC 198.

Michael Bisping e Luke Rockhold They already faced each other before, in 2014, and the North American came out on top with a submission in the second round. Since then, Rockhold has continued winning and won the middleweight belt in December last year by beating Chris Weidman. Bisping also remained undefeated. In his most recent triumph, in February, the Count beat Anderson Silva.
