After much speculation and some information already circulating in the press, the Ultimate organization made the welterweight champion's next belt defense official. Robbie Lawler and, as a bonus, the main fight of UFC 201. On July 30th, Lawler will face the American Tyron woodley.

Welterweight champion since December 2014, Lawler, whose record is 27-10 (1), has made two title defenses so far and both were historic clashes. The first of them, in front of Rory McDonald was considered the “Fight of the Year” of 2015. The split decision victory over Carlos Condit on January 2nd of this year, she was already the favorite for the same prize this season.
Yes, Tyron woodley, 34 years old, has a record of 15 wins and three losses in professional MMA. Without fighting since January 2015, having suffered a series of injuries during that period, the former challenger for the now-defunct Strikeforce welterweight belt has won two consecutive victories, the most recent of which was over Kelvin Gastelum in a split decision by the judges.
UFC 201 takes place on July 30th, at Phillips Arena, in Atlanta, Georgia (USA). In addition to the title fight between Lawler and Woodley, the event had two other duels announced: Claudius Hannibal x Siyar Bahadurzada and César Arzamendia x Damien Brown.
