A huge mess, involving the most controversial participant on card number 198, marked the final hours of the UFC in Curitiba (PR). North American Matt Brown was attacked by his former coach, Brazilian Rodrigo Botti, who invaded the hotel where the athlete was staying to confront him. In an interview, Botti presented his version of what happened and denied that he attacked Brown from behind. Furthermore, the jiu-jitsu specialist said he will cover the hotel's expenses, since, when leaving the place, he broke a door of the establishment.

“The reason was the cowardice he did 15 months ago, when I was sitting in the chair, having just had surgery, and he attacked me. Wherever we see each other, this will always be the reason. I have a lawyer, I don't want to say too much. He saw me before, and if that happened, it couldn't have been behind my back. I was sitting on the couch, talking to Rica, who is a fighter's manager, I met (Josuel) Distak, everything was good. This story about me punching you from behind is not true. Unfortunately, no one will be able to see the video from the hotel, because the police ordered them not to give the video to anyone. What I can say is that he looked at me, he saw me. I was alone, he was at the table with three or four people. He saw me coming and even said something before (the confusion). I left the hotel in a hurry, nervous, because the guys were on a team, I wasn't. After the confusion with Brown inside the hotel, the team came to defend him. I think the guy (Brown) took a loss, and they wanted to defend him or get revenge. I broke the door and I'm going to pay. What I broke, I paid for. I'm a man. They will ask for the quote and I will get it right. Everything was peaceful, the police were very correct and handled everything in the best way possible. I'm waiting for the bill at the door, but I'm going to sleep happy”, said Botti, on the website of the “Combate” channel.

Rodrigo Botti x Matt Brown

The controversies between Rodrigo Botti and Matt Brown are old. The Brazilian allegedly attacked the UFC fighter inside a hotel in Curitiba as a form of retaliation. In 2015, the American invaded his gym and also attacked him when he was recovering from eye surgery.

Botti even filed a complaint in US court, but the case was closed due to lack of evidence.
