Another edition of Strikeforce was held in the early hours of this Sunday (05), in the city of St. Louis, in the United States. The show's card featured 13 fights, where four Brazilian athletes were in action: Renato “Babalú”, Antonio “Pezão”, Fernando Bettega e Lucas Lopes.

Of these, only “Pezão” emerged victorious from the Octagon. The Brazilian heavyweight won his fifteenth career victory by knocking out the North American Mike kyle in the second round. After being dominated in the first five minutes of the fight, even suffering a knockdown, “Pezão” began the second round taking the initiative of the actions. Using your efficient ground and pound, the Brazilian undermined the resistance of the North American, who did not present the same strength as at the beginning of the fight. However, Dan didn't give the Brazilian a chance and knocked him out 1 minute and 53 seconds into the fight. This was the American's first victory in Strikeforce since his signing in December last year. “Hendo” will now have the chance to compete for the organization’s light heavyweight belt against another Brazilian. Brazilians are defeated in the preliminary card
Among the preliminary fights, Brazil had two representatives who ended up defeated in their fights. Lucas Lopes was submitted for the second consecutive time in Strikeforce. The Brazilian's executioner was the North American Cortez Coleman, who landed a tight guillotine, forcing Lopes to give up the fight with just over two minutes of action.

 

Another Brazilian athlete who was defeated this morning was Fernando Bettega. The fighter, who was making his debut in the organization, encountered difficulties in the first round of his fight against the North American Wayne Phillips. But, in the remaining two rounds, the Brazilian showed recovery power and balanced the dispute, which went to the judges' decision.

Upon hearing his name as the winner of the fight, Bettega celebrated his first victory in Strikeforce. However, minutes later, the judges performed a recount on their scorecards and reversed their initial decision. Final result: Wayne Phillips won by split decision from the judges.
