Many people were taken by surprise by the article published by the English newspaper “The Sun”, which stated that the UFC champion Conor McGregor and former boxer Floyd Mayweather would be close to announcing a boxing superfight. However, the Irish's head coach, John Kavanagh, joked about the rumors, and, indirectly, categorically denied the possibility of this happening.

Kavanagh took to his Twitter account to mock the English newspaper's article. “I heard that Conor McGregor x Nate diaz x a hologram of Bruce Lee is possible for the UFC 300. Now you know since we are just making up stories today,” she wrote.

Mayweather, long considered the world's highest-paid athlete, hung up his gloves last year, putting an end to a statistically perfect career with 49 wins in 49 fights. McGregor has been UFC featherweight champion since December last year, when he won José Aldo. However, he comes from defeat: he lost to Nate diaz in March, in a fight valid for another weight category.
