Mayweather says he denied multimillion-dollar offer to return to boxing

The highest-paid athlete in the world does not rule out a return, but says that, for now, he is happily retired from the sport

Considered the highest-paid athlete in the world in recent years, Floyd Mayweather retired from boxing at the end of 2015. Despite having officially hung up his gloves, the American continues to receive astronomical financial offers to return to the ring at the age of 39.

In an interview with the North American website “Yahoo! Sports,” Mayweather revealed that he denied a proposal worth hundreds of millions of dollars to return to action. “A lot of crazy numbers are being thrown at me, over the hundreds of millions of dollars. I am truly blessed. I don’t know what I’m going to do, but for now, I’m happy just helping other fighters,” he revealed.

Despite the denial, Mayweather did not completely rule out a possible return. “I'm happy where I am. Everyone asks me if I'm going back, but for now, I'm happy where I am. I’ve been having conversations and you never know, but at the moment, I’m happy,” he explained.

Mayweather retired with a perfect boxing record, with 49 wins in 49 fights. Among his victims are Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez placeholder image, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Oscar de la Hoya, Arturo Gatti and Diego Corrales.
