After achieving the most important victory of his career, when he beat the former champion Anthony Pettis last month, Edson Barboza There should be another quarry ahead of him in the octagon. The Brazilian is expected to face Gilbert Melendez at UFC on FOX 20, an event that will take place on July 23, in Chicago (USA).
The information was first given on the “Combate” channel website. Barboza has been alternating wins and losses in his last four fights: he lost to Michael Johnson, defeated Paul felder, was completed by Tony Ferguson and surpassed Pettis.
Former Strikeforce champion, Melendez is going through a difficult phase in the UFC. The American is coming off two consecutive defeats, to Pettis and Eddie Alvarez, and in his most recent fight, he ended up being caught in a doping test.
UFC on FOX 20 does not yet have a confirmed main fight, but it is already known that two other Brazilians will make up the card: Alex Cowboy (against James Moontasri) and Luis Henrique “KLB” (against Dmitri Smolyakov).
