The Japanese will have the chance to fight for the belt against the winner of the fight between the Brazilians Anderson Silva e Vitor belfort. Soon after the triumph over Marquardt, Okami was already talking about a possible confrontation against Anderson Silva, an opponent he beat in 2006 by disqualification, due to an illegal pedal stroke applied by the Brazilian athlete.
“Fight with Anderson Silva It’s one of my goals,” said Okami, at the press conference after UFC-122.
“I would like to fight the middleweight champion. So I hope (he) will be my next fight”, said the Japanese.
The fight between Anderson Silva e Vitor belfort is scheduled to take place at UFC-126, an event scheduled for February next year, in Las Vegas.
