On Saturday night (26), the former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones returned to the octagon after more than a year away due to personal and legal problems. Even without impressing, Jones had a confident performance and dominated Ovince St Preux over the five rounds, being declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.
Despite the performance he himself classified as below average, Jones still showed some glimpses of the fighter who completely swept the UFC light heavyweight category, with his traditional front stomps, elbows, takedowns and some plastic strikes.
With the triumph, Jon Jones now he has expanded his professional record to 22 wins and one loss – highly contested, in a disqualification against Matt Hamill. With the interim belt, Jones secured a rematch against Daniel Cormier, now valid for the unification of the linear title of the category up to 93 kg.
