Jones surprises and consoles disaffected Rashad Evans after loss to Glover

On social media, the former champion said that Evans "is a great champion and always will be"

Former training colleagues, Jon Jones e Rashad evans They developed an avid rivalry since they faced each other for the light heavyweight belt – with Jones winning in a unanimous decision from the judges. Years after the clash between them, however, “Bones” seems to have left the feud behind and decided to support Rashad at a difficult time in his career, after the defeat to the Brazilian Glover Teixeira last Saturday (16) in Tampa (USA).

On social media, Jones posted a video of commentator and former fighter Brian Stann of the fight and responded to comments from Rashad himself – who said he was “embarrassed” by his performance. “Stann is absolutely right, keep your head up Evans. For me, you will always be a sporting legend. You are a great champion and always will be. It is not our cartel that defines who we are, but rather the courage that allows us to continue on the journey. Stay on track, brother,” wrote Jon, in the Instagram.

Jon Jones returns to the octagon next Saturday (23), when he faces Ovince St Preux for the interim belt in the light heavyweight category in the main fight of UFC 197. The duel, which will take place in Las Vegas (USA), will mark Jones' return to the octagon after more than a year and three months, a time in which the former champion was involved in several problems with the law.
