This Friday (05) the Pernambuco Junior Assunção will face another battle in his career. In his debut in the Legacy Fighting Championship, the black belt will fight against the American Brian Melancon in the city of Houston, United States.
Assunção has been undefeated for four fights, with a record of 10 wins and four losses in MMA. The Brazilian is a former UFC athlete, where he won just one of his three fights for the organization between 2006 and 2007. It is worth noting that Assunção won five of his victories by submission, including his last fight where he defeated John Mahlow by applying a guillotine at Xtreme Fighting Championships 10, held on March 19th this year.
In turn, Melancon has four wins and one defeat on his record. The American began his professional career in January last year, when he defeated Adrian Barco by technical knockout (punches) at Urban Rumble Championships 3. In his last fight, Melancon beat Todd Moore by technical knockout (punches) at Legacy Promotions, held last July.
The Legacy Fighting Championship will also feature competition for two of the organization's belts. In the lightweight category, champion Rey Trujillo will face Ray Blodgett, while Jonathan Harris will fight Mike Bronzoulis for the interim middleweight belt. Check out the full Legacy FC card:
