The international MMA scene could see an extravagant figure in the near future. Long considered the world's highest-paid athlete, former boxer Floyd Mayweather has said he feels ready to start promoting mixed martial arts fights.

The American, who retired last year with an undefeated record of 49 wins in 49 fights, has been dedicated to organizing boxing matches for some time through his company Mayweather Promotions. This time, Floyd wants to expand his field of activity. “The time has come for me to move to MMA. I mean, the time has come to start promoting MMA fights. I’m ready to get involved in this field now”, he declared, in an interview with the “Fight Hype” website.

Mayweather even indicated that Las Vegas (USA) could be one of his targets, using as an example the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the stage for some of the UFC's biggest fights today. “Of course, you already know what the acronym 'MGM' works for: Mayweather Gets Money [Mayweather makes money]. This still happens: every month, checks come in”, he added.
