In March, while still on probation, Jones was stopped by a police officer in traffic in Albuquerque (USA). At the time, the police officer, later identified as Jason Brown, accused the fighter of racing and driving in a flashy manner, which provoked an angry reaction from Jones. Despite the protest, the athlete was arrested again for violating the terms of his probation.

This time, Jones used his Instagram to give a new version of what happened that night. Along with a video with a report about Brown's controversial approaches to black people, the fighter spoke out. “Officer Brown is all over the news in Albuquerque after reporters dug into how many times he has been involved in racial profiling cases in the past. As a parent of biracial children, I would not be the one to make this argument. At the same time, I'm not surprised by this news after our conversation”, commented the fighter.

“Talking to him there, with him looking me in the eye and accusing me of things that both he and I knew I hadn't done, made me feel helpless, as if the truth had no power at all. Now I understand why some people are afraid of the police. I'm glad people are starting to see who I dealt with that night,” Jones added.

Out of prison, Jones is scheduled to face Ovince St Preux at UFC 197, on April 23, in a fight that will put the interim light heavyweight belt at stake.
