The war is more open than ever. UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier left the ceremony aside and spoke harshly against Jon Jones, with whom he has been exchanging some barbs since the fight between the two, at UFC 197, was cancelled.

Cormier was injured and was removed from the April 23 fight. The UFC acted quickly and escalated Ovince St Preux to face Jones for the interim belt. “DC” then offered to train Jones’ new opponent, which displeased the former champion: “He’s a coward. A loss from me to OSP should be the last thing Cormier should want to see, because it would mean he wouldn't be able to avenge his only loss,” Jones explained.

After hearing his rival's provocations, Cormier took to Twitter to respond in a very direct way. “Jon Jones, I have never been afraid of you or anyone my entire life. For you to call me a coward is insanity. Your day will come. You can't hurt me, you strike like a bitch. Next time you won't win the decision. But don’t go to jail again, you addicted loser,” he wrote.

Then, Cormier made new observations poking Jones. “Being a coward is running away from the scene of a crime without checking on the person you hurt. Being a coward is refusing to face Gustafsson. Being a coward is UFC 151,” he added.

Cormier is referring to the controversial accident that lost Jones the light heavyweight belt. In April last year, “Bones” crossed a red light, hit a car driven by a pregnant woman and fled the scene on foot, without providing assistance to the victim.

UFC 151 is one of the most controversial points in Jones' career. In 2012, the North American would face Dan Henderson in the attraction, but the challenger for the belt was injured a few days before the fight and went. Ultimate wanted to climb Chael Sonnen, and Jones refused to have a new opponent at such short notice. So the entire event was cancelled, which caused a stain on Jones' reputation.
