Former UFC featherweight champion, José Aldo had the desire to fight for the belt at the historic UFC 200 event, on July 9th. Ultimate partially fulfilled the Brazilian's request: there will be a fight for a title, but an interim one. Given this scenario, anyone who thinks that Aldo was satisfied with the decision is mistaken.

Aldo had already publicly declared that he preferred to face Conor McGregor for the definitive belt. Instead, he will fight Frankie Edgar for the interim, which is strange due to the fact that McGregor will also be present on the card, in a fight valid for another category. Asked at a press conference if he saw value in the interim title, Aldo was quite direct.

“No f***! It's still the same thing. Pure c****** sausage, it doesn't mean anything. I'm thinking about winning and getting to fight for the belt. It's the first step I'm taking to get back on track. This interim business is for the sponsors, for the media, for the fans who like it. Not for me. I want the linear belt and this is the first step I'm going to take. I respect the Frankie Edgar, but I'm going to get there and win well, convincingly. I think that was also missing, to light that flame again, that desire, so let's get there, win and take back the belt”, said the Brazilian, in an excerpt reproduced on the “Combate” channel website.

Aldo and Edgar face each other in Las Vegas (USA) for the second time – in the first meeting, in 2013, the Brazilian won the decision. The main fight of UFC 200 will be between McGregor and Nate diaz, between welterweights, in a rematch of the duel held in March, at UFC 196, which the North American won via submission.
