The coach and businessman of José Aldo, Dedé Pederneiras, had hopes of seeing his pupil having the long-awaited rematch against Conor McGregor at UFC 200 in July. This, however, will not happen: McGregor will face again Nate diaz, and Aldo stares Frankie Edgar for the second time. Watching the fights as an analyst, Pederneiras believes that the Irishman will be defeated again by his only tormentor in the octagon.

“It will be a more difficult fight than the first. I think Conor will control his impulse to knock out so he doesn't get tired, but even if he wins, which I don't think will happen, he's smaller than other athletes in his weight class – and I'm not even talking about the champion. The chances of Conor beating the guys in that category are very low”, said the Nova União coach, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Regarding the lost chance of seeing Aldo fight McGregor again, Pederneiras avoided regrets. “I don't have much to say. The UFC owners know the reasons [for the fight to be married] and I can't say much about it, because I also have business and do what needs to be done so that my company gives me the most profit. We expected the fight with Conor, but we can't complain. Aldo has a fight scheduled, so we will win and fight Conor again”, he guaranteed.
