Shortly after the announcement that Chris Cyborg would finally make her debut in the octagon, at UFC 198 in Curitiba (PR), Ultimate leaders revealed that Leslie Smith was chosen as the Brazilian's opponent because several fighters said no to the duel. Former champion's manager Holly holm, Lenny Fresquez not only confirmed the version but also said that Holm was one of the athletes who refused to face Cyborg.

“We are not interested in that (facing Cyborg) at the moment. She only wants to fight Miesha. Miesha was in Australia on vacation, so they should talk to her this week. We should know in the coming weeks. But, Miesha or Ronda, both fights interest us”, said the agent, in an interview with the “Albuquerque Journal”.
