Arrested for violating his probation, former UFC champion Jon Jones agreed the terms of his departure in court this Thursday (31), including new punishments arising of the recent episode. Jones' new controversy was commented on by Ultimate, but the fighter escaped with a “warning” from the organization, which, despite recriminating him, confirmed his fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 197.

“The UFC respects the decision made today by Judge Michael E. Martinez in the Second Judicial Court of New Mexico regarding the probation terms of the case involving Jon Jones. The organization is disappointed to learn that Jones has been cited for several traffic violations over the past week, as well as concerned about the nature and tone of some of the conversation between Jones and the police officer. Still, the UFC respects Jones' right to contest the cited traffic violations in court and receive a fair trial in the case. Jones' planned fight on April 23 will continue as planned. However, Jones understands that the UFC expects him to fully cooperate with the terms of his probation as set by Judge Martinez,” the organization said in an official statement.
After having his title taken away by Ultimate due to the traffic accident in which he was involved in 2015 and from which he fled without providing assistance to the victim, a pregnant woman who fractured her arm, Jon Jones returns to the Octagon on April 23rd. Jones will face the current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, precisely his opponent in his last belt defense, in an attempt to regain the title.
