Rarely Anderson Silva comes out publicly to challenge another fighter or express his desire to do a specific fight. However, the Brazilian broke the trend and spoke about who he wants to face in his next fights, interestingly mentioning the name of Conor McGregor.

Anderson's words draw attention primarily due to the large difference in weight between the two. “Spider” was champion for seven years in the middleweight category (up to 84 kg), while McGregor holds the featherweight belt (66 kg). Even so, Anderson praised the Irishman's skills and stated that a duel would be an important test for him.
“It’s a challenge I would like to undertake. I never asked to face anyone, I never asked to fight anyone, but it's a challenge I would like to have, to test my martial ability against McGregor. I think McGregor is a great stand-up fighter, in the last fight he didn't fight very well because he ended up getting into the game of Nate diaz, and it is a very difficult challenge”, he declared, in an interview on the website of the “Combate” channel. “We could do a catchweight, since he said he'll fight anyone, on equal terms. I believe that a catchweight would be interesting for the sport, both for me and for him.”
Furthermore, Anderson expressed his desire to have rematches of his last two fights in the UFC. “I would like that, a rematch against Nick Diaz and against the Michael Bisping, because the fight ended in a way that wasn’t nice”, he added.
Before thinking about rematches, Anderson already has a commitment to return to the UFC. It will be on May 14th, in Curitiba (PR), when he faces the Jamaican Uriah Hall.
