“I've been asked a lot about the UFC. Our doors are open and we are talking about it. Maybe it will happen in the future”, said Fedor in an interview with the “Epic MMA” program on YouTube.

For his debut in the octagon, the 'Last Emperor', who reigned supreme in PRIDE for the last decade, is already projecting his ideal opponent: the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum. The Rio Grande do Sul, current UFC champion, submitted Fedor in Strikeforce in 2011, breaking Fedor's incredible streak of 10 years and 28 fights without a defeat.

“I would like to have a rematch against Fabricio Werdum. I told the UFC many times that I want and would accept this fight. I don't have to prove anything, but I want to fight the best of the best. And I would like to fight the UFC champion Fabricio Werdum”, added the Russian.

The relationship between Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC goes back a long way, since the end of PRIDE in 2007. Since then, Ultimate has tried to sign the Russian, widely considered the greatest heavyweight fighter of all time, on several occasions. However, the negotiations were never successful. In 2015, Emelianenko announced that he would return to fighting after a three-year retirement. Negotiations with the UFC returned to the table, but impositions from M-1, the company that manages the Russian's career, made the deal impossible.
