Renan Barão moves up to featherweight and faces Jeremy Stephens

The Brazilian's debut in the under-66 kg division will take place on May 29

Former interim and linear bantamweight champion, the Brazilian Renan Barao will change category and already has its first challenge announced. Barão will move up to lightweight and face the North American Jeremy Stephens, in an event scheduled for May 29th.

Renan Barao hasn't fought since July last year, when he was defeated again by TJ Dillashaw, in the rematch worth the bantamweight title. The defeat was only the third in the career of the native of Rio Grande do Norte, who has 33 wins as a professional in MMA. Information about Barão’s return to the octagon was released on the “Combate” channel website.

Jeremy Stephens He has a professional record of 24 wins and 12 losses, including three victories in his last four fights. However, “Lil' Heathen”, as he is known, comes from a defeat in his last fight, against the Hawaiian Max Holloway in December last year.

The UFC Fight Night edition scheduled for May 29th does not yet have an official venue, but the event is expected to take place at Mandalay Bay, in Las Vegas (USA). The duel between Renan Barao e Jeremy Stephens should be the co-main fight of the night.
