“Before his defeat, he kept talking about fighting anyone, anywhere, as if he could beat everyone. I received messages from fans asking me what my fight against McGregor would be like. This can't be serious. I weigh 100 kg, I am nine times world champion. Do you really think it would be an even fight? So I'm glad that happened. This allowed fans to get a sense of reality”, analyzed the former champion, in an interview reproduced by the North American website “Bloody Elbow”.

Jones also believes that the stumble will make McGregor even stronger. “On the other hand, I was happy with his defeat because I believe it will make him improve even more. After losing, you start to see the flaws in your game and question your training to improve. As a McGregor fan, I want to see him have longevity in the sport. Guys like him symbolize the future of our sport. We need guys like Conor McGregor to be successful”, he highlighted.
