The departure of two-time Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and three-time ADCC champion Marcelo Garcia to American Top Team (ATT) still generates a lot of talk. Four-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion and leader of Alliance, Fabio Gurgel spoke about his pupil's move to ATT.
“I talked to (Ricardo) Libório about this possibility some time ago, but as Marcelinho was in New York it was difficult. I think he made the right choice and I thank Libório for the kindness he received there. This decision is due to the fact that Alliance is not focused on MMA, which is what he needs now. I know he is in great hands and I trust in the work of Libório and his team to give Marcelo the best training possible, so that he can have the same success in MMA as he has in Jiu-Jitsu and Submission”, said Gurgel, who guaranteed Marcelinho's stay on the team in the Jiu-Jitsu and Submission championships.
