Se Holly holm staged one of the biggest upsets in the history of MMA by knocking out Ronda Rousey and win the belt, this time she felt the other side of the coin. This Saturday (5), at UFC 196, the then female bantamweight champion was unable to confirm her favoritism and surprisingly lost the belt to Miesha Tate.
Holm dominated much of the fight, keeping the distance well standing and connecting the best blows on Tate. The challenger, however, had two moments that sealed her fate: in the first, she took the fight to the ground in the second round and narrowly missed out on the submission.
The final chance came in the fifth and final round. Aware that she was behind on the score, Miesha went for “all or nothing” and tried her best to lead the actions back to the stage. It worked: the challenger took the champion's back, locked her in a choke and achieved an incredible victory with 1min30s left in the fight.
