A joke left the atmosphere tense between Nate diaz and Jon Anik, official UFC narrator for broadcasts to the United States. Anik made a bold bet on the victory of Conor McGregor about the controversial North American this Saturday (5), in the main fight of UFC 196, but the fighter wasn't happy and threatened to slap the narrator.

In the podcast he presents alongside the former fighter Kenny Florian, Anik emphatically declared that the Irishman is the clear favorite for the fight. “I’m going to say what the people want to hear: I’m going to tattoo ‘209’ [area code for the city of Diaz] on my arm if Nate diaz win Conor McGregor. I bet on Conor in the first round, by knockout or technical knockout,” he said.

Diaz reacted to the comments on his style. “Jon Anik should keep his cowardly opinion to himself,” he wrote on Twitter, with the caption hashtag which says “you’re going to get slapped soon”.

Anik then tried to clarify his position. "I am a big fan of yours. What I said was taken out of context. Sorry for my comments and the misunderstanding. It was not my intention at all”, he countered.

PUBLICITY:

The narrator, however, will not be present when the fights are broadcast this weekend. Mike Goldberg will be in charge of the attraction, responsible for the “numbered” cards and events that air on open television in the country. Anik is a fight narrator on cable television.
