Former MMA fighter Mikey Burnett went through a real scare last Monday night (February 29). The American and his son were shot in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma (USA), during an attempted robbery.

Burnett, 41, and his son, Freddy, were in a parking lot getting into their car when they were approached by two robbers. According to local press information, the ex-fighter's son reacted and ended up being shot in the leg, while Mikey was shot three times in the abdomen.

Both were rushed to the hospital, but according to police information, both are doing well and are not at risk of death.

Burnett had seven professional fights in the late 90s, the last three of which were in the UFC. He beat Eugênio Tadeu and Townsend Saunders, but lost to Pat Miletich on the UFC's first visit to Brazil, in a fight that put the welterweight belt at stake. After that, he tried to return to the UFC for TUF 4, but lost to Din Thomas in the quarterfinals.
