the american Jorge masvidal is Strikeforce's newest lightweight. The fighter signed a 2-year contract with the event to hold six fights during this period. Masvidal is a member of the American Top Team (ATT) and has a record of 20 wins and six losses, being defeated in his last fight by former UFC member, Paul Daley, by unanimous decision of the judges at Shark Fights 13, held last Saturday in the United States.
Brazilian's teammate Gesias Cavalcante, also recently signed by Strikeforce, Masvidal has already fought twice for Strikeforce, winning on both occasions. The fighter had his first fight for the organization in September 2007, where he defeated Matt Lee by technical knockout in the first round. In February 2008, he won Ryan Healy by unanimous decision of the judges.
According to the athlete himself, the Strikeforce organization has not yet defined who his first opponent will be at the event, but Masvidal emphasizes that he wants to face outstanding fighters.
“I don't have a defined opponent yet, but I want a big fight. I will knock out anyone they put in front of me,” he said.
