With his punishment reduced by the Nevada Athletic Commission and released from his UFC contract, it seemed like a matter of time before Wanderlei Silva announced his return to professional MMA. And Mad Dog's return to the ring may be closer than anyone imagines and should take place at an event featuring an old acquaintance: Rizin, an event that has been known as the “New PRIDE”. The person who “let slip” the information was his doctor, Dr. Marco Aranha, on social media.

“You think you are old and that your time has passed!!: Uncle Wanderlei Silva He just arrived in Brazil and came to me looking a little chubby and out of shape and said: Spider makes me 20 years old again, that Mad Dog is going to fight again in Japan in a new event made by the same owner of the extinct PRIDE! An order placed is an order fulfilled. Let the transformation begin”, the doctor published on Instagram, along with a photo of him appearing next to the “chubby” Wand.

Without fighting since 2013, when he defeated Brian Stann, Wanderlei Silva is currently suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission until 2017, and consequently from the main sports stages in the United States. However, the Brazilian was recently released by the UFC from his contract with the organization and, theoretically, is free to perform in Japan, where the Mixed martial arts have no regulation before the end of their suspension. Mad Dog has a professional record of 35 wins, 12 losses, one draw and one unsuccessful fight.
