Shine Fights lightweight GP changes location

The Shine Fights lightweight GP has a new home

The Shine Fights lightweight GP, scheduled for this Friday, will take place in a new location. Previously scheduled for The Patriot Center, in the city of Fairfax, State of Virginia (USA), the event was moved to the First Council Casino, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, due to problems between its organizers and the Professional Boxing and Wrestling Program of the State of Virginia.

The disagreement between the parties occurred due to the organization of Shine Fights involving fans of the event in organizing the card for the first round of the GP, a fact that displeased the Program commissioners, responsible for sanctioning the event. Shine Fights Chief Operating Officer Jason Chambers apologized to Fairfax fans and thanked them for their dedicated support of the organization. Chambers highlighted that the public has the right to decide which fights will make up the first round of the tournament.

“It doesn’t make sense, from a financial point of view, for me to create a product of this type and decide which fights the fans should watch,” he said.

This is the second controversy that the Shine Fights organization has been involved in recently. In May, the third edition of the event was canceled a few hours before the start, due to legal problems with businessman Don King, which prevented the boxer from debuting. The GP will be attended by Brazilian Marcus Aurélio, an athlete from the city of Fortaleza, who has fights in renowned events, such as Pride and UFC. In addition to Aurélio, this edition of Shine Fights will feature fighters Carlos Prater, Rich Crunkilton, Drew Fickett, Josh Shockley, Charles Bennett, Hector Munoz and James Warfield.
