Former Bellator light heavyweight champion, Emanuel Newton gave an unusual justification for his apathetic performance in front of Phil Davis in his last fight, in September 2015. The North American, finished in the first round, stated that he was unable to perform well because he had sexual intercourse shortly before the fight.

Newton detailed what happened in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”, and said he regretted it: “I had sex three or four hours before the fight, which was stupid. Having sex before the fight made me lose strength in my hips and lose power”, commented the fighter.
