Caught in an anti-doping test last month, the Cuban Yoel romero You may have been a victim of contaminated supplements. Or at least that is the version presented by his manager. In an interview, Malki Kawa assured that they were substances used by Romero shortly after the fight against Ronaldo Jacare that caused the positive test.

“None of the ingredients listed on the label are prohibited, but what appeared in the examination is not on the product label. So, obviously, it wasn't his fault for testing positive for something he didn't consciously take”, assured Kawa, on the program “The MMA Hour”. ” He took the supplement and, if you do that, you end up taking the risk of something happening. So, the responsibility will end up falling on Romero”, he added.

Romero can still appeal the USADA (North American Anti-Doping Agency) decision, but the Cuban could be punished with a suspension of up to two years even if it is proven that a contaminated supplement was responsible for the positive test. Undefeated in the octagon and on track to compete for the middleweight title, Yoel was even removed from the official UFC rankings after the incident.
