Jiu-Jitsu black belt Carlão Barreto starts 2008 at full steam. Technical director of Black House, Carlão was invited by Silvio Behring and Rogério Gavazza to be part of the board of directors of the recently created Sports Jiu-Jitsu Federation (FJJE). “I was very flattered by the invitation, as Gavazza has always put on good events and Silvio comes from a family that has a lot of history within Jiu-Jitsu. This Federation does not come to compete, it comes to add to the sport. My idea at the Federation is to prepare Jiu-Jitsu teachers to really be teachers, because today there are a lot of black belts who go to teach and have no preparation”, explained Barreto.
Carlão shows that the willingness to help the sport grow is not just with Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Carlão was recently elected director of Grappling and Submission arbitration at Floaerj. “The Olympic Wrestling federation is the most organized sports federation in Rio de Janeiro. My mission now is outside the ring and I really like martial arts, I follow them all, in fact, I wanted to be a black belt in all the arts (laughs)”, concludes the black belt with good humor.
