Known for the efficiency of his jiu-jitsu, the Brazilian Thales leites was surprised at War on the Mainland, an event that held its first edition this Saturday (14), in Irvine, in the United States. Facing former IFL champion Matt Horwich, the Tupiniquim black belt started the duel better, dominating the opening three rounds. However, when everything seemed to be heading towards a Brazilian victory, the Nova União athlete was surprised. Already feeling the rhythm of the fight, in the fourth round, Thales went to the ground and ended up giving his back, where he was submitted with a rear naked choke.
The event also featured the participation of three more Brazilian athletes. Gustavo Ximú defeated Rick Reeves in a unanimous decision, Cleber Luciano submitted Todd Whillingham with a rear naked choke in the second round. João Silva was beaten by Erin Beach in the judges' decision.
In the main fight of the night, former UFC champion Tim Sylvia used his striking to dominate the action against Paul Buentello and achieve victory at the end of the second round. Check out the other results:
