Expectations for the fight between Fabricio Werdum e Stipe Miocic at UFC 196 they were short-lived. Less than a day after the fight was announced, the Brazilian went public to say that he will not be able to fight on the stipulated date. However, this did not stop athletes from exchanging barbs on social media.

Werdum declared that he will not fight at UFC 196 because he is suffering from an injury. The Brazilian stated that he would continue if he faced his original opponent, Cain Velazquez, but the change of opponent made him change his plans.

Miocic then mocked Werdum's decision and implied that the Brazilian was afraid of facing him. “To be honest, I wouldn’t want to face myself either,” wrote the American on his Twitter account.

Werdum responded by referring to the activity that Miocic combines with fights. “I will fight with you, Stipe Miocic, at any time after my recovery. I think you’re a great firefighter.”

Miocic then suggested a fight on the traditional holiday at the end of May, in which the UFC always holds large events. “Alright, Werdum, let’s fight on the weekend of Memorial Day. I’ll even let you parade with me, next to my belt, in the fire truck,” she countered.

The UFC has not yet revealed its plans for the February 6th event in Las Vegas (USA). Werdum won the heavyweight title in June of last year, and has yet to make a title defense since then. Miocic, on the other hand, comes from two victories in a row, over Mark Hunt e Andrei Arlovski.
