Less than 24 hours after cutting Cain Velazquez of UFC 196, it was time to Fabricio Werdum also leave the card on February 6th in Las Vegas (USA) also due to an injury. The version presented by Werdum, however, did not please the businessman. Stipe Miocic, who had been selected to replace Velasquez, and he went on a tirade against the Brazilian, even asking for his removal from the position of champion.

“If you are the champion and you are healthy enough to fight, but you refuse because you don't like the marriage of fighting a specific opponent, you should lose the belt,” said Greg Kalikas, to the website “MMA Junkie”. “I understand if you're legitimately injured and can't fight Cain – that's one thing. But if you're healthy enough to face an opponent but refuse to face another guy on two weeks' notice, that tells me you're not a real champion. You should accept all opponents and the UFC should take your belt if that's the case. I don't know what the real facts are, but I'm speaking from what I've heard so far. If this is the real situation, it is shameful. He doesn't want to face Stipe. We found this a long time ago. We tried to get Werdum to fight Stipe a few years ago, and he wasn't interested, as he apparently isn't now,” he added.
