Holly Holm guarantees: 'I'm open to a fight against Cyborg at featherweight'

The Ultimate bantamweight champion also rejected any type of rivalry with the Brazilian, unlike Ronda

Over the last few years, the biggest discussion in women's MMA has been whether Ronda Rousey, then UFC bantamweight champion, would or would not move up a category to face Chris Cyborg – who, in turn, had difficulty moving down from featherweight to face her rival. If it depends on the new Ultimate title holder Holly holm, however, the controversy will never begin, as, according to her, a fight against Cyborg in the heaviest division is completely plausible.

“In the UFC we currently don’t have a featherweight division. If the UFC wants to promote this fight, I'm not opposed. I'm open to doing it. I'm not against having options to do other fights. I don't know how much I can move up in weight, but I've fought in bigger divisions in boxing. In MMA things are a little different, because of the grappling and kicks. In boxing you don't have the strength and weight of a person on you. But I think I'm a big bantamweight. I need to see how things would happen if this option appeared”, declared the champion, during a chat with the press in Las Vegas.

Holm also ruled out any type of rivalry against Cyborg, as happened with her predecessor Ronda, and guaranteed that she has a great relationship with the Brazilian, with whom she filmed a film earlier this year. “I love Cyborg. She is amazing. I finally got the chance to meet her this year. I support whatever she wants to do. If she wants to stay in the featherweight division, or even if she doesn't want to test the cut to an intermediate weight between bantamweight and featherweight, I'm with her.” she assured.

At 34, Holly holm has an undefeated record in professional MMA, with ten wins in ten fights, including the knockout over Ronda Rousey which guaranteed him the bantamweight title in November. Already Chris Cyborg, 30 years old, has a record of 14 wins, one loss and one unsuccessful fight. The Brazilian is the current featherweight champion of the Invicta FC event.
