Although times were different and technical excellence was not one of his hallmarks, North American Emmanuel Yarborough made his name in the history of the UFC by being the heaviest athlete to perform at the event. This Monday (21), at just 51 years old, Yarborough passed away in the United States.
The death of the amateur sumo wrestler was reported by the website “My MMA News”, and the cause of death was not revealed. On the fighter's social media page, several fans left their message for the former fighter.
At 2,03m tall and weighing 317kg, Emmanuel Yarborough had a quick stint in MMA, with just three fights, two defeats and one victory. His debut came at UFC 3, in 1994, when he was knocked out by Keith Hackney in less than two minutes of fighting. His next two fights took place in 1998, both in Japan, for Shotoo and PRIDE.
