Once again, the former Brazilian champion José Aldo used his history in the sport to not get discouraged in the face of the defeat to Conor McGregor in the main fight of UFC 194, last Saturday (12). Upon his arrival in Brazil, Aldo was greeted with celebration by dozens of people at Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and said that his success story will not be erased by the lightning knockout against his great rival.

“What I did in 10 years cannot be erased in 13 seconds. We win, we lose, but we learn from defeat. Soon we were champions again. The next fight could be a rematch, so keep your head on straight. I don't know if it's an immediate rematch or not. We're talking. Conor wants to move up, he can't make weight anymore. Maybe he'll fight at the top weight. The next one could be a title fight with the Frankie Edgar”, declared the Manauara, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website.

Aldo also commented on the warm reception and assured that he was motivated to regain the featherweight title. “The result was not good, it’s part of the sport, it’s part of it. In the future we will give this joy to everyone. Now it's time to train, train and train. Nothing comes without work. Let's see where we went wrong, fix it and get back on track. When I'm there, it's for family, friends and the country. Alone I am nobody. I count on the fans and seeing this reception shows that we have everything we need. In defeat they are with me. I’m going to train twice or triple as hard to win back what’s ours”, he concluded.

At 29, José Aldo has a professional record of 25 wins and just two losses. Although he still dreams of an immediate rematch against McGregor, a reunion between the two has been ruled out by Ultimate President Dana White.
