Werdum makes history and submits Fedor in Strikeforce

Werdum submits Fedor

Brazilian Fabrício Werdum made history tonight at Strikeforce, an event that recently ended in the city of San José, California. Facing the beast Fedor Emelianenko, the Tupiniquim black belt was quick on the trigger and finished the “Last Samurai” in just 68 seconds, inflicting his first defeat against the Russian in 10 years. Another highlight of the show was the brazuca Chris Cyborg, who knocked out challenger Jan Finney and retained the organization's women's belt.

Right at the beginning of the fight, after a frank exchange of blows, Werdum ended up being knocked down with a right cross, but the Brazilian soon used his jiu-jitsu to attack the Russian from below. After Fedor defended an arm-bar attempt, the Brazilian soon landed a tight triangle, forcing Emelianenko to tap three times and give up the fight 1m09s into the fight.

“I'm very happy, I trained hard, this victory is very important for my team, my family and my friends”, said an elated Werdum
